Father's Day Feed the Hungry!

Community Issue: Did you know that Yavapai Food Bank alone serves over 6,000 families every month?!? The need is still growing, but as summer continues, food donations decrease and the shelves are in danger of running out of non-perishable food items. In the past 8 months alone the food bank has distributed over 1,000,000 pounds of food (that's over twice as many pounds as the whole of last year!)

Solution: This Father's Day weekend, June 19 & 20, we are going to rally once again to stock the shelves of food banks in Yavapai County. In February we collected over 6 tons of food! This June, I hope we will surpass that! Do you think we could break 8 tons?? By the way, that's 14,000 pounds of food! Don't miss out on this opportunity to be a part of feeding the hungry in our own community.

Goal: 30 pounds of food per family (if every family at Heights brought 30 pounds of food our goal of 8 tons (16,000 pounds) would be reached!!!)

It's Simple:

1. Grab your family, friends, and neighbors and go shopping to collect food items (see below for most needed items)
2. Leave donations behind your vehicle during the normal weekend service times at Heights (Sat 6:00 pm, Sun 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 am).
3. Volunteers will pick up donations during service times.
4. Volunteers will weigh and deliver the food on June 21st. Check back then for a report on what God did through His people!

Items to bring:
  • Most Needed: Canned proteins (i.e. canned meats, stews, or peanut butter) and canned fruits (peaches, pears, and apple sauce)
  • Stews and soups: chili, ravioli, stews, etc.
  • Grains, boxed pasta and sauces: baking mixes, cereals, flour, oatmeal, rice, spaghetti, etc.
  • Beverages: canned/powdered milk, boxed juices.
  • Vegetables: canned beans, corn, peas, boxed potatoes, tomatoes, etc.
