Update 08/17/2011 - Brazil Team
I'm very pleased to be writing the blog for our team tonight, I feel like today was the best day so far. After five straight days of building shelves, desks, and installing window bars, we fully completed the library this afternoon. Everybody worked so hard this week, it was very rewarding being part of building something so wonderful. I could not believe the amounts of books that the team put onto the shelves today, it was truly amazing.
Sadly, Heidi had to leave our team early this morning to get back home for work. She left at seven this morning and just got on her nine p.m. flight from Rio a little while ago. We would like to pray for her safe return home as it will take four different flights, and many hours to get home.
This afternoon, just after finishing the library, the whole team went to the beach together. We had so much fun in the waves together, and it was a blast just having the team in the water together. When we got back from the beach we had a nice dinner together. After dinner, we got together with all of the missionary students here to share testimonies and they had a presentation about their upcoming mission to Guinea Bissau. It is such a blessing to see how God is working in these young people's lives. Their team will be leaving on December 10th to Africa, and our hearts and prayers will be with them.
Tonight, Kolbi played Kenyan's guitar, and we sang three or four of our songs from the Heights, it was a good time. Tomorrow, we will be going out with the students here to a very poor community. We are very excited about being a part of this group tomorrow, and expect that it will be very humbling.
I know for myself and the rest of the team, this week has been so rewarding. I am so humbled by the people of Brazil, Barbara, her staff, and especially her students. Me and Kenyan have had the pleasure of sharing a room all week with three young men, Augustos, Moses, and John. They are some of the nicest men I have ever met, I will miss them very much, but I look forward to staying in touch with them when I get back home. We thank everyone for your prayers, and I can humbly say, God is truly at work here in Brazil.
God Bless everyone,
Billy (for the team)
